Welcome to Marisa’s Italian Kitchen and thanks for visiting!
I’m Marisa, I am an Italian-Canadian born in the Lazio region of Italy, the central part of the boot and grew up in the beautiful city of Montreal, (la belle province) Quebec.
I am the writer and photographer behind the blog with a great passion for Italian home cooking and all things sweet. As a matter of fact, don’t ever leave me in a room with a plate full of freshly baked cookies…ever…just saying!
I married my high school sweetheart and we have two beautiful grown children who are my very happy taste testers in the kitchen.
You will find here, my authentic Italian recipes as well as some adapted from my large repertoire of cookbooks and magazines, all tested and approved by family and friends.
The idea to start this blog came to me shortly after my mom passed away after a long battle with heart disease. She was a great cook and was the most happy when she had her three daughters and grand-children over on Sunday afternoons enjoying her traditional “Sugo”, home made sauce with a variety of meats that would slowly simmer for hours.
With my mom now gone, so too have all her recipes. This blog will be a journey of re-creating meals that trigger memories from childhood. A fusion of two cultures, Italian and Canadian. It will also serve as an archive of my most requested recipes. From comfort food to soul nourishing meals to sweet baked delights, I hope to inspire new beginners to believe in what they can achieve, in their own kitchen.
If you have a question or comment in English, Italian or French , please….don’t be shy. I would love to hear from you!
